Safety glazing is the baseline question
Door glass normally needs a safety-glazing solution accepted for the opening. Tempered and laminated products behave differently after breakage and must match the selected system.
Choose solar control by orientation
Low-E coatings, tint, overhangs and shading affect heat gain, daylight and appearance. The same glass may not be ideal on every elevation.
Weight affects hardware and size
Thicker, laminated and multi-pane units increase panel weight. That can change maximum panel dimensions, carriers, hinges, handling and installation.
Impact is a system approval
Impact glass alone does not make an impact-rated door. Frame, glass, anchors, size, panel arrangement and documented approval must match.

Can I choose any glass for any panel size?
No. Glass make-up, weight, heat treatment, edge conditions, frame capacity and product testing can limit the supported combinations.
